The Value of Empowerment
I thought I'd share this article which is a real cross-over piece for me from the education sector on the topic of collaboration. It is titled “Millionaire-Driven education Reform has Failed. Here’s what works.”
It resonates with me because it pulls together the threads of what I believe drives success and the lessons it shares from this education setting are widely applicable to anyone seeking to drive better outcomes.
These are:
- focusing on what environment people thrive in
- local empowerment and autonomy
- gradual improvement
- less hierarchy and standardization management
Achieving these things require us to really struggle with our human tendency to use rules and control and uniformity to understand the world we live in and to lean into the mess.
Hope you enjoy it as I did.
